Marianne Faithfull

Marianne Faithfull
I first met and photographed Marianne Faithfull when she was in NYC promoting her album “Broken English”. I was a fan of hers ever since I heard “As Tears Go By”, her hit in the ‘60s.
I photographed her on the Staten Island ferry (have to find those films) and later went to the Mudd Club to see her performance.
Around 2am, there was a crowd of fans in the club, more that couldn’t get into the small club and were standing outside. No Marianne.
I went upstairs to the “dressing room” and saw that Marianne was pretty high.
“Are you going to perform?” I asked. “There’s a couple of thousand fans waiting for you downstairs.
She did great show.
