The Masters of Reality

The masters of Reality
I was fortunate enough to see The Masters of Reality at their first NYC show. It was in a Mexican restaurant where their manager had a day job.
I remember Rick Rubin, the producer of the Beastie Boys was there and I was wondering why. Rick wound up producing the Masters of Reality’s debut album.
I don’t remember how, but I got the assignment to go to Syracuse, NY and make some photos for publicity.
I like this shot the best.

The Masters of Reality
Many years later, I saw The Masters of Reality, but with Josh Homme and Nick Olivieri from The Queens of the Stone Age playing in a small club in Cologne, Germany. That show was one of the top 10 concerts that I ever saw and I saw Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, etc.
I told Chris Goss that it had been quite a while since the first Masters live album and that with Nick and Josh, he should make a new live album. Chris agreed and asked me to come along for the rest of the tour to make photos for a live album cover.
I did…the results are “Flak ’n’ Flight”.
Their version of “Cretin Hop” is the bomb…
